I’m a Recent Grad majoring in Management Information Systems @ UC Irvine based in Irvine, CA.
My story
I first got in touch with coding when I was in high school. At that time, I began to realize the power of code and wanted to harness it to help solve problems. Like other students who have the same objective. However, I was extremely frustrated with what I wanted to be in the future after graduation and began to feel anxious and stressed when I was a freshman. I tried to connect with Alumni, professors, and different people who are able to give me advice.
Most of the students in CS continue their journey as a programmer. It is rewarding but I also felt that programming was not enough for me or something I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I joined lots of clubs and attended multiple informatics classes and events. By this time, I had heard the “Product Management” buzzword. It sounds interesting and exciting, and seems can fulfill my goal of using technology to help people solve problems and bring the best to their lives.
I was fascinated by the process of identifying customer needs, conducting market research, and translating those insights into innovative product ideas. Through internships and hands-on experience, I honed my skills in project management, data analysis, and collaboration, all of which are crucial in the role of a product manager. Today, I am proud to say that I have achieved my goal and am actively contributing to the success of diverse products in the market.
